Whether globalization is either a largely beneficial or highly destructive component of economic, political and social progress in the twenty-first century is dependent upon the view respective to each side of the cultural fence. For Western society, globalization is indeed a boon for extending an already-established market presence throughout the rest of the world; for indigenous populations who inhabit underdeveloped nations and rely solely upon locally produced commodities in order to survive, globalization represents nothing short of an industrial and cultural disaster.
